The Coolest X-Box Games Reviewed
True Crime: Streets of LA
May I first state that this game is so not for kids. You can do it all in this game. It's a shoot-em-up, [light] strategy, and car racing game (only you can shoot other cars while driving!) all in one extremely fun package. You're the guy on an elite task force who's mission is to fight crime in LA. You have been given clearance to do, well, basically whatever it takes. It's your choice whether you become a "Good Cop" or a "Bad Cop" (and you can see just how far you've let yourself slide one way or the other on the little scale on the screen). Although it's easier (and often more fun) to be a "Bad Cop", you miss out on quite a few "opportunities" (read: levels) as the game progresses.
SSX 3
This amazing snowboarding game is kickin' with an amazing soundtrack and super-cool graphics. The spectacular mountain vistas will make you feel like you're really boarding in the Rockies. Choose your girl or guy wisely (from a fun list including a cheeky blonde or a hot cowboy), as they will be your buddy throughout the game as you rack up points (read: $$$) for winning races and doing cool snowboarding stunts then cash them in for increased ability in various categories. Or, if you'd prefer, you can cash them in for a new clothing or equipment. As always, this one is best played on the biggest screen possible.
Grand Theft Auto: Double Pack
Another one that's definitely not for kids, this double pack is sure to keep you occupied for weeks to come. You're a hardened criminal who pulls 'jobs' for bad, bad people. Beat people to a pulp with your bare hands or your trusty baseball bat (more fun), or simply slice them to bits with your chain saw and watch the blood splurt all over the screen (but be careful: unlike with the baseball bat, the cops catch on to the chainsaw massacre much more quickly). Each time you kill someone you also rob them and get whatever pocket change they had on them. With this money you can buy more ammo (killing cops for their guns and ammo is the most cost effective though) or, eventually, strip clubs, etc. Is there a plot? We think so--but we got too distracted by all the fun we were having to notice.
