When we plugged in the electric fireplace ($599. US) by Dimplex North America (actually, it's called an "electric stove" but since you can't cook anything on it, we think the word "fireplace" more accurately describes it) we couldn't believe how it transformed the room. As the realistic (fake) flames glowed in the background, we sat back and admired our newly decorated and romantic living space. (At least it felt redecorated!) We switched on the heat option and felt the heat immediately begin to radiate from the bottom of the stove (say goodbye to those bulky sweaters!)
Here are a few of the benefits that we thought were especially notable:
- Plugs into a regular electrical socket so it doesn't require ANY assembly, gas lines, hardwiring, etc. (Yay!)
- When you move you can easily take it with you, unlike other fireplaces.
- Safe for pets, kids, and drunk people (the glass stays cool.)
- You can have it on in the summer with the heat turned off (try that with a conventional fireplace!)
- In the winter it produces enough warmth to heat your bedroom (or den, or any other small room), while only using about as much electricity as a couple of light bulbs.
