While many like to forget about the 80's and leave a giant blank spot in their memories, we feel that the decade should be celebrated for some of the great music it produced (some, not all). So here, in no particular order, is our Top Ten Hits of the 80s, from which you can make your very own HILARY 80s CD!
10. Walk Like an Egyptian, The Bangles
Remember standing in front of a mirror, mimicking an Egyptian dance and singing your heart out? So do we. That's why this song's here.
9. Don't You Forget About Me, Simple Minds
The 80s just wouldn't be the same without the Brat Pack films and their great soundtracks. This closer of The Breakfast Club had us wiping away the tears and secretly identifying with the characters at the same time. Powerful stuff.
8. Bizarre Love Triangle, New Order
"Every time I see you falling, I get down on my knees and pray". Who doesn't melt when they hear that? A beautiful song.
7. Relax, Frankie Goes to Hollywood
More power to you if you're still wearing your "FRANKIE SAYS RELAX" t-shirt. Secretly, we are too.
6. Locomotion, Kylie Minogue
The song that put that sweet little Aussie poptart on the map, and the song that we just couldn't get out of our heads for over a decade. Thanks, Kylie.
5. 99 Luft Balloons, Nena
This catchy song seems to make appearances at everyone's parties. Upon which everyone taps their feet and pretends that they understand German.
4. Hungry Like the Wolf, Duran Duran
Risqué at the time, Duran Duran was the rebellion band of choice. And what's not to love about the silky vocals of Simon LeBon?
3. Sunglasses at Night, Corey Hart
Honestly, who doesn't love this song? Besides making us all rush out and buy a pair of stylish (or not so stylish) shades, it's fun and easy to sing along to. Bring back any memories?
2. Back in Black, AC/DC
Much of the 80s featured bad hair metal and spandex. AC/DC just gave us good ol' rock and roll to bash our heads along to, inadvertently giving us bad hair. We'll forgive them, because this song rocks.
1. Thriller, Michael Jackson
No list of the 80s would be complete without an appearance from the King of Pop. Come on, you were scared by the video. You bought the record. You knew the dance. Heck, you still tear it up on the dance floor whenever you hear the song, right? You're not alone.
