Another Sexually Suggestive Billboard
Another billboard is gaining publicity for its sexually suggestive image. No, it's not Calvin Klein.
AKOO, Rapper T.I.'s clothing line, has put up a billboard in Newark, New Jersey. Hanging above a major intersection, the billboard shows a woman holding on to a man's unbuttoned jeans while the man's hand is placed against the back of the woman's head. The act (and the naughty stare of the woman) is suggesting that they are about to engage in oral sex.
"What's the message here? 'If I wear these clothes more women will want to have sex with me,'" says a Rutgers marketing professor.
"I'm so sick of people seeing Newark as a place where they can do whatever they want. They think they can put it in a black community and nobody is going to say or do anything," says City Council President Mildred Crump.
"So often when I am out in the community I see kids wearing their pants too low... I will work with my city council to see if we can address it so we don't see these types of advertisements displayed in our city in the near future," says New Jersey Mayor Corey Booker.Labels: AKOO, campaign ads, sex
Paris Hilton's Beer Ad Devalues Women, Blond Women
Paris Hilton stars in a beer commercial wearing a short black dress while preening and rubbing a can of Devassa beer on herself and seducing onlookers through her window.
But Brazil's Secretariat for Women's Affairs claims foul! They want the sultry commercial off the air.
Brazilian government holds a regulation that prohibits beer commercials treating women as overtly sensual objects.
"It's an ad that devalues women - in particular, blond women," says a spokeswoman for the Women's Secretariat. She also add that the commercial received numerous complaints.
Eduardo Correia, a spokesman for the regulator Conar, which has opened three separate investigations, says:
"The problem with the ad isn't a lack of clothing, but its sensual nature. A woman in a bikini on a beach isn't necessarily sensual; it depends on the context."
Devassa could mean "naughty" or "sexy" in English. Devassa's "Bem Loura" or "Very Blond" features an Internet campaign with the heiress wearing lingerie and high heels.
Out to promote the new Brazilian beer last week, a drunk Paris Hilton was seen crawling around a Rio club while holding a can of Devassa beer in her hand (see above). Very naughty indeed.Labels: campaign ads, hair, Paris Hilton
Britney Spears Through The Lens
Britney Spears' 2010 marketing campaign for Candies is entitled "Britney Spears Through The Lens." It showcases the pop star as seen through the lens of three famous photographers - Annie Leibovitz, Mark Seliger and Terry Richardson.
The series of pictures will debut in a four page insert within the April edition of Seventeen Magazine and on Candies and Kohls websites.
Britney Spears is lookin' good these days. One look at this photo though and all I can think of is Photoshop.

Armani Exchange Same-Sex Ads For Valentine's Day
Armani Exchange's "Share the Love" Valentine's Day campaign ad features same-sex couples, much to the disgust of parents.
The American Family Association's OneMillionMoms.com condemns this "filthy" ad for a lengthy reason:
"Malls, where teens hang out, have retailers whose window displays poison our children with 10-foot posters that are nothing but soft p*rn. In particular, Armani Exchange has recently displayed Valentine's posters with partially dressed "couples" holding one another. These couples consist of two men, a man and woman, and two women. The women are scantily dressed while it is questionable if the men have any clothes on at all. Two of these models are used a couple of times to represent bis*xuals. If it could get any worse the text written is "SHARE THE LOVE." (An asterisk '*' is used to ensure our emails get through to those who have signed up for our alerts. Otherwise specific words referenced would be blocked by some Internet filters.)
"Not every local mall has an Armani Exchange, but we need to take a stand since A|X is one of the fashion leaders and this is becoming a popular trend. You may view these on their website at www.armaniexchange.com. WARNING! Pictures are offensive."
Does the organization condemns the ad for its overt sexuality? Or because it's all "filthy" bisexuality?
Because if it only condemns the Armani Exchange ads for representing gays and lesbians on Valentine's Day, WARNING! the organization totally denies recognition for bisexuals and same-sex couples.Labels: Armani, campaign ads, sex
Korean Baby Version Of David Beckham's Armani Ad
An adorable Korean baby appears on a diaper ad spoofing David Beckham in his famous Giorgio Armani underwear campaign.
"Children who are no longer using diapers can wear Good-Nites to prevent bed wetting. We show Good-Nites being worn as fashionable underwear to show children that Good-Nites aren't diapers," explains Korean advertising agency Diamond Ogilvy who created the ads.
Do you agree? Good. Let's get back to the ad.
To avoid child pornography, the baby cannot wear briefs while holding on the rope just like David Beckham. Still, the young fellow managed to pose like a fashionable man and it has nothing to do with the diaper. What he lacks in masculinity, he compensates with character. Check out the look on his face!Labels: Armani, campaign ads, David Beckham
Madonna Washes Dishes In Dolce & Gabbana Ads
In Madonna's spring 2010 Dolce & Gabbana campaign, she pretends to wash dishes and eat pasta.
The designers, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, say on their blog that the mood "isn't unlike a film from the days of Italian Neorealism. Madonna herself recalls the strong, raw sensuality of the iconic actress Anna Magnani - showcasing when soft sensuality meets bold authenticity."
To justify the claim for "authenticity," Vanity Fair asked the designers whether Madonna really knows how to wash dishes. Stefano Gabbana replied "Certainly... she's a very practical woman." And does she actually eat spaghetti despite her most enviable figure? "Of course. And she can allow herself to with all the exercise she does!"Labels: campaign ads, Dolce Gabbana, Madonna
