Stressed out? Feeling tired? Well, be good to yourself. If it's the little things in life that make waking up in the morning worthwhile, read these tried-and-true ways to let go, kick back and walk to your own beat. Whether your energy is low or your life is hectic to the max, take some time and revel in your own company -- be yourself!
Smile – The natural way to just feel good about yourself--about life. Spread it, it's contagious.
Sleep in – Call in sick; just take the time to lounge in bed, enjoy the morning silence. When was the last time you heard the birds chirping?
Eat breakfast – Go for the works--bagel, cream cheese, lox, English muffins, jam, waffles, fruit, or soup. It's the most important meal of the day, and it will jumpstart your metabolism--and your mood.
Buy flowers – There is nothing like the smell and look of fresh-cut flowers in a pretty vase. Roses (yellow is my favorite), daisies, forget-me-nots or lilies. No need for perfume!
Light some candles – Any time of the day will do. It just adds that warmth you crave on that rainy or drab morning, afternoon or evening. And don't forget the romance factor!
Turn off the TV – Get rid of that droning noise from the tube. Enjoy the silence. Ah!
Eat alone (or go to the cinema) – Enjoying your own company is refreshing and liberating. Does the idea of dining alone give you the jitters? Start small--go to a café for tea; or bring a book or magazine to keep you occupied.
Write – No, not a book. But did you know that putting pen-to-paper is therapeutic? The feel of the pen against its canvas is a nice break from the tip tap of your fingers against the keyboard. Snail mail has its perks--cute stationary!
Bake a cake – Cook something. Try out that recipe that you've been dying to make, or hadn't found the time to make. Then, show up at the next potluck armed with food that will impress!
Dance – Turn the volume up and groove (like no one's watching!). You are sexy and beautiful--let them hear you roar!
