Alicia Keys Asked "American Idol" To Text For Charity
Grammy-winning singer Alicia Keys made a special appearance on hit Fox show "American Idol" to urge fans to support the Text ALIVE Challenge.

Alicia Keys says that by texting the word "alive" to 90999, the viewers will be able to donate $5 to Keep a Child Alive, the charity which helps bring medicines and medical care to HIV/AIDS-stricken families in India and Africa.
"Giving just $5 makes it easy for people from almost all economic strata to help. You buy four of your favorite ring tones and that's what you spend, if not more. It puts everything into perspective," says the 33-year old singer.
Donation texts to Alicia Key's Keep a Child Alive charity runs until June 1.
