Music icons Mariah Carey, Beyonce, and Rihanna lead the top music figures of today for the fifth annual Fashion Rocks concert to celebrate the relationship between music and fashion.

"Fashion Rocks uniquely celebrates the intersection of two of the most sexy cultural paradigms: fashion and music. This year, we have a spectacular lineup of talent and performances that will take the show to a whole new level,” says the event producer Richard Beckam.

Fashion Rocks will be held on the 5th of September at Radio City Music Hall. Proceeds of the concert will be given to the Stand Up to Cancer program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, established to raise money for cancer research.

Other music icons to celebrate fashion and music at the Fashion Rocks concert are Fergie, The Black Eyed Peas, Kid Rock, Keith Urban, Chris Brown, and Lil Wayne.

PETA's Letter To Naomi Campbell

PETA sent a letter to Naomi Campbell – the infamous supermodel who (like it or not) is making news these days for the left and right controversies involving her name. She pleaded guilty to police assault, made a fresh start by claiming her support for black models, and then suffered bad media publicity again when she got kicked off by her modeling agency. Then she was reported to not paying her hotel bills, criticized the famous models of today like Agness Deyn and Lily Cole, publicly thanked Victoria Beckam for helping her in her legal troubles, and the rest is yet to come...

But this time, let's focus on Naomi Campbell's trouble with PETA. The black model insisted on wearing furs despite critics from the animal rights group. And so Naomi Campbell received this letter that might be blatant and rough, but was creatively written in rather amusing way:

Dear Ms Campbell,

Please don't get angry and throw something, but I hear that you are going bald. If this is true, then you understand what it's like to lose your hair. Of course, for animals raised and killed for their fur, the problem isn't just that their looks suffer (have you seen a skinned fox?! Check out FurisDead.com for a quick peek) but that the skin is ripped off their bodies - sometimes while they are still conscious.

If you are balding, please seize this opportunity to make up for promoting cruelty to animals in the fur trade by promoting faux fur and natural fibres. You would look lovely in a synthetic hairpiece and/or a pretty cotton, elegant satin, practical linen or other hat made without harming a living soul. Paris Hilton Will Bankrupt Her Family's Fortune!

Maybe she's super rich, with all of the Hilton Hotels to back her up in times of money troubles. Still, money will run out to bankruptcy if Paris Hilton will continue to overspend her family's fortune.

Reports had it that the heiress' 17 pets alone had cost her family $50,000 a year for maintenance. Aside from her frequent partying in elite clubs and her everyday lifestyle necessities (including her million-dollar cars and dresses), Paris Hilton is also said to loiter money with her first class flights. The 27-year old socialite flies on first class planes with her entourage and stays on hotel suites for $6,500 a night. While in Moscow for an MTV event, millionaire Paris Hilton was even reported to spend $30,000 in a wine store.

To all of Paris Hilton's extravagance and "intimate" relationship with money as a girl, a spokesperson for the Hilton family couldn't help but admit that the Hilton family is nearing bankruptcy. “Paris has spent more than she should’ve in the past 5 years and now her family is paying for it. If she spends much more, her family will go bankrupt.”

Tsk tsk, believing all these stuffs makes us think that "some people never really get beyond their stupid pride!" If the Paris Hilton will continue squandering money and eventually bankrupt her family's fortune, she will surely have a perfect taste of “the simple life,” if not a miserable one...

Bayonetta: Upcoming Videogame Heroine Craze

A new video game craze is coming and this time around, it centers on a strong female character – Bayonetta.

Bayonetta is described as “a curvy new heroine that walks like a runway model but has ankle pistols and deadly hair.”

Bayonetta was introduced last Thursday by Sega, a Japanese videogame pioneer. According to Sega, Bayonetta is as an animated witch, battling mosters who are disguised as angels. The dark heroine is equipped with martial arts skills and possessed magic to amplify her hair into giant high-heel boots for kicking enemies' butts, or to make dragons and other beasts for battle.

Further details regarding Bayonetta are being kept secret by Sega until its release next year. As to why they choose the video game heroine to resemble like a fashion model, there was no direct answer. A representative from Sega in North America however said:

"We will set the bar for the stylish genre.”

Giselle Bundchen, To Punch Paparazzis!

She's already the most popular and highest-paid fashion model these days, but Brazilian Supermodel Gisele Bundchen still has one simple dream – punching the paparazzis.

And so in her recent public interview, Gisele Bundchen says she's fed up with the paparazzis who stalk her and her boyfriend Tom Brady. Now, she's all ready to beat them off with her fists.

Gisele Bundchen asks for a change in the law so she can assault the photographers. So at least, she's still asking...

Liz Lemon & Co and "Mad Men" Lead 2008 Emmy Nominations

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences have announced the highly anticipated 2008 Emmy Nominations.

Reigning supreme is NBC's "30 Rock", garnering 17 nominations-a record high for a comedy series (beating out The Larry Sanders Show's 16 nominations in 1997).

Hot on Liz Lemon's heels is my favorite current TV show AMC's "Mad Men", which received an impressive 16 nominations, including a lead actor nod for Jon Hamm (Don Draper) and consideration for "Best Drama Series".

Of snubs to note, 2008 marks the first time since 1998 that HBO is out of the running for "Best Drama Series" (however, both "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Entourage" are contenders for "Best Comedy Series").

Miss Venezuela Wins Miss Universe 2008

This year's most beautiful woman of the universe aka Miss Universe 2008 is Miss Venezuela Dayana Mendoza.

The 22-year old beauty won the crown from Miss Colombia Taliana Vargas, Mis Dominican Republic Marianne Cruz Gonzalez, Miss Russia Vera Krasova and Miss Mexico Elisa Najera.

Aside from the beautiful face and lovely body, Dayana Mendoza caught the interest of both the audience and the media, as she revealed that she was once kidnapped in her homeland. According to her, the experience taught her to remain poised under pressure... Hmmm, any other enlightenment Dayana?

Anyway, there are also other interesting scenes from the beauty pageant – the fall of Miss USA for the second time around. Miss USA Crystle Stewart tripped on stage during the evening gown competition, just like her senior Rachel Smith. Some people thought that this act could be intentional but other Miss Universe contestants themselves believed that the fall was really an accident because the poor beauty queen was very pale backstage after the presentation. Well, she may have not win the crown but at the least, Crystle Stewart is expected to become the next YouTube sensation in the coming days.

Mis Venezuela Dayana Mendoza beat 79 other contestants who were gathered in the seaside city of Nha Trang, Vietnam for the Miss Universe 2008 title. She succeeded the throne from last year's Miss Universe 2007, Riyo Mori of Japan.

A Clothing Line For Marilyn Monroe?

A new clothing line that sells the entire fashion collection of the late Hollywood sex goddess Marilyn Monroe is due to open.

Reports had it that Bradford Licensing Associates in America teamed up with Blues Clothing to create a clothing line which bears the name of Marilyn Monroe. Bradford Licensing Associates owns the rights to 400 archive photos of the sexy actress.

The new clothing line aimed at young adults and will open its first store in France next year. The clothing company plans to sell a full line of apparel – dresses, tops, T-shirts, jeans and trousers, and underwears.

"We have had the most success with apparel licenses specifically focusing on the retro look. So we think that Blues Clothing will follow in the same direction. We expect the line to be trendy, fashionable and girly just like Marilyn was in person," says the president of Brandford Licensing.

Yeah right, as if the young adults knew a lot about the late Marilyn Monroe... Anyway, the late sexy star had one of the most lovely face and rocking body ever, she can easily enchants young adults just for these traits.

NYC "Dark Knight" Premieres With Much Fanfare!

The late Heath Ledger's highly anticipated summer Blockbuster premiered in Gotham last night.

The stars were out in full force, including the movie's Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman Maggie Gyllenhaal and Michael Caine.

While not there in body, homage was paid to Heath Ledger's memory. In the words of Christian Bale: "Working with Heath was fantastic. He steals the movie and I'm quite happy to say that. He's a hell of a talent and created a joker that's very iconic and one that will become a classic portrayal of the ages."

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Welcome New-Born Twin

Angelina Jolie finally delivered her twins on Saturday evening via caesarean operation in an exclusive hospital in Nice, France. The twins are named Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline. The baby boy Knox Leon weighed 2.27 kilos and baby girl Vivienne Marcheline weighed 2.28 kilos.

According to the attending gynaecologist, the 44-year old father Brad Pitt was very calm and was not at all disturbed by the operation but was very euphoric when he saw the twins. The 33-year old mother Angelina Jolie, on the other hand, had a “blinding smile.”

"Everything went smoothly. The children are doing very well, the mother is doing very well and the father is doing very well," the doctor added.

By the way, the babies already made a fortune just after they were born - their first photograph was sold to a US paper for 11 million dollars (or 6.9 million euros). Since they were born to famous humanitarian parents, however, the money from their photograph was already set to be given to charity.

At this early, the Brangelina twins are already making a loud noise in the media. How couldn't they? Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are Hollywood's golden couple. It's logical that Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline become Hollywood's golden twin.

Carla Bruni's Album, Flunks

France's first lady and former supermodel Carla Bruni has recently launched her 60s-flavored music album "Comme Si De Rien N'Etait" and the record sales has flunked.

This did not came as a surprise for the supermodel-turned-chanteuse who was also expecting that her music would receive negative comments, especially coming from her husband's political opponents.

According to reports, Carla Bruni's flunked album was boycotted by left-wing voters who were opposed to Sarkozy's leadership. "A whole chunk of her former public just won't buy it even if they like the sound," says one salesman at a music store. "Clearly, it's a record that leaves no one indifferent, politically if not musically," added another co-worker.

Carla Bruni, on the other hand, says she did not have regrets in making the album of which the proceeds she will be giving to charity. However, she will not go on tours for security reasons. She has also said she will now take her official role as a priority, adding, "If I give enough to my new role, in terms of what I can really do to help other people, would that not take up all of a person's time?"

Though Carla Bruni's album has flunked, there's still one thing that she should cheer up for. It's the fact that she's, after all, the first First Lady who has ever recorded a music album. Like what the The Times had said, the boycotted album may still be “the best album ever made by the wife of a head of state."

Fashion Glory For Rome, To Be Restored By New Mayor?

The newly-elected mayor for Rome, Gianni Alemano, says he too has an eye for the artistic but with a focus on substance rather than image. And so he wants to restore the fashion glory of Rome, making it into a modern hub for budding fashion designers.

For his substance-rather-than-image fashion agenda, he will take part in encouraging local talent, developing fashion schools and (possibly) setting up a university faculty that focused on fashion in Rome.

"I want Rome to become a city of fashion, focusing mainly on young and new designers; seeking a strong and precise character that sets it up as a base for excellence in fashion." The newly-elected mayor added, "I've been in office for just two months and I'm already here, which means we're present and we will invest a lot in high fashion."

Just recently, a New York congressman also made a news when he announced the creation of a bill that enables models to acquire a “special model visa” in the US.

How the mayor restores Rome for its fashion glory is something that people will be looking forward to see. What's more definite this time is how politicians gain high media exposure when their political agenda includes fashion restoration and development.

Prince Harry And His Charity Efforts

The 23-year old Prince Harry, youngest son of Princess Diana and Prince Charles and third-in-line to the British monarchy, has a lot of charities to do before partying and making girlfriends.

Earlier this day, Prince Harry joined in a project to revamp a centre for the disabled in the tiny African mountain kingdom of Lesotho. The prince helps in the installation of wheelchair ramps of Thuso Community Centre. The center is currently home to 43 children with physical and mental disabilities, and is expected to house up to 80 children.

Recently, the valiant prince undertook a two-month tour of duty with the British army in Afghanistan. Prince Harry will also take part in a coming football match organised by Kick4Life, a local charity which lured England's Italian coach Fabio Capello to Lesotho back in April.

A generous "royalty" indeed... If tenderhearted Princess Diana has lived up to this day, she will surely be proud of Prince Harry and his charitable efforts.

Lindsay Lohan's 22nd birthday is pretty much celebrated with rumored girlfriend Samantha Ronson. On a sunny afternoon yesterday, Lindsay shopped with her girlfriend Samantha Ronson, said to be “hunting for diamonds at Cartier in Beverly Hills.”

Later in the evening, the “lovely” couple arrived at Teddy's lounge inside Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Lindsay was lovely in a bright pink strapless micro-minidress and a chunky diamond necklace while Samantha was also lovely in black pants, a tuxedo shirt, bow tie and top hat with red trim.

And just after midnight, the people at Teddy's sang “Happy Birthday” and Lindsay blew out the candles of her big pink-iced cake featuring a picture of Marilyn Monroe in her iconic wind-blown white dress. Then her friends chanted "speech, speech, speech," but Lindsay replied, "Shut the fuck up!"

Fashion House IRFE Rises From The Ashes

Eight decades after the prominent Russian fashion house was closed, IRFE creations were presented during the couture week in Paris on June 30, 2008.

The 23-year old designer Olga Sorokina presented the first collections of Irfe through models parading on the Palais de Tokyo contemporary art museum. The collection includes bias-cut silk gowns and rich astrakhan fur jackets.

Irfe was founded in Paris in 1924 by Prince Felix Yusupov and his wife Irina who was the niece of the last Russian Czar Nicholas II. The fashion label became popular among the aristocrats but two years later, the fashion house was shut after the prince got involved in the murder of Rasputin and eventually lost many of his prosperous clients.

Belarus fashion designer Olga Sorokina was very interested to relaunch Irfe and together with the granddaughter of the founders Xenia Sphiris, Irfe was reborn. The fashion label is financially backed by Russian businessman Andrei Strukov.

The relaunch of Irfe is said to be the “testament to the growing purchasing power of Russia's new rich, who have joined the exclusive coterie of haute couture clients in recent years.”

Russian fashion house Irfe plans to open its first store on Moscow's exclusive Stoleshnikov Lane with further shops in Paris, Milan and New York. It also plans to introduce a perfume range and a line of jewelry based on the legendary jewels of rich Russian families including the Yusupovs.

Its just ordinary happening for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt to donate to charities. This time, the famous couple donated 1 million dollars to support the education of 8,000 war-affected children in Iraq and the United States. The latest Brangelina donation was given to the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, made through the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.

While its not a big thing for the Brangelina couple to donate, it is great news for hotel heiress Paris Hilton. The socialite had given an “extremely generous” donation for the construction of a medical building at the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. "The children I have met through my involvement with Children's Hospital have truly touched my heart... I am proud to make a donation and lend my name to the fundraising effort to help children who are facing terribly serious illnesses," says the 27-year old Paris Hilton.

Meanwhile, supermodel Kate Moss had her blonde hair extension for auction on eBay, with a good cause of raising money for an anti-drug charity. While Brangelina and Paris Hilton were “aware” of the donations they made, Kate Moss did not plan of auctioning her hair extension. The 37-year old model shed the extension as she tried to duck paparazzi in Germany. A photographer picked up the hairpiece and eventually posted it on eBay, for the benefit of German anti-drug charity Keine Macht den Drogen (No Power to Drugs).

Milan Fashion Week Goes Tropical For Men

In Milan, men were dressed in cotton shirts and thin ties with flamingo motifs. With flowers and flamingos, male models of Gucci walked down the catwalk in colorful dresses and leather lace-up shoes with large embroidered flowers and crocodile heels. This is to represent the tropical treatment for Gucci's spring/summer 2009 menswear collection.

"What I really wanted to bring with this collection was a sort of happiness," said the Italian designer Fridda Giannini.

"I was referring to this idea of travel, a sort of tour in the tropics ... In summer, in the minds of people in general, there are always colours, always prints, this idea of flowers, flamingo birds so I tried to keep all these elements and to spread them across the collection."

The bright, tropical, and “happy” tone of Gucci's men's wear collection is contrasted to the darker tones of Emporio Armani and neutral ones of Gianfranco Ferre in the same Milan fashion week.

Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, George Clooney – Myanmar Plea

Hollywood's sexiest male celebrities Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and George Clooney combined their powerful charms and humanitarian efforts in pleading for the Myanmar government to allow foreign aid workers into the cyclone-ravaged country to bring reliefs for the people.

As top giving celebs, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and George Clooney represented the plea to enter Myanmar where 138,000 people died or was missing and 2.4 million people are in need of aid, after being hit by Cyclone Nargis. The junta government has refused entry to most foreign aid workers.

Pitt, Damon, and Clooney are founding members of the activist group Not On Our Watch which is active in bringing aid to the junta-ruled country of Myanmar. Their organization has already donated $500,000 for reliefs to the poverty-stricken country.

"Despite this, foreign supply ships with emergency and lifesaving equipment have been turned away or gone home. International relief continues to be slowed...Burma's delta remains shattered, its people starving and in danger."
