Cameron Diaz Offends Peruvian Natives

While on a tour of Peru this Friday, Cameron Diaz, star of "Shrek" has accidentally offended the locals who had experienced decades of abuse and violence from Maoist guerilla insurgents.

Diaz carried a messenger bag with the slogan, "Serve the People" printed in Chinese on the flap, which was a popular political slogan of the Communist Leader Mao. While in some countries these bags are regarded as stylish and harmless, Peruvians were highly offended by her choice of accessories.

In addition to being offensive (though we know she didn't mean it), why carry an olive green messenger bag in the first place?

Indiva Store in Yorkville

The Indian Fashion Industry along with Bollywood has always had an impact on Torontonians. The new addition to the high fashion district of Yorkville is David Anselm's Indiva Boutique.

The double storey, Indian inspired store is meant to introduce the countries top designers to the affluent Candaian market. "The ground storey of Indiva presents womenswear, accessories and footwear. The second floor features home furnishings like drapes, carpets, pillows, bedding and table linens, all hand woven artifacts by Indian artisans."

Names like Rohit Bahl, materials like pashmina, taffetta and intricate embroidery are the reason for the stores big price tags and acclaimed popularity. A chain of Indiva boutiques are set to open in Montreal and Calgary in the next three years.

Victoria Beckham: Fashion Designer?

Victoria Beckham, former Spice Girl and a celebrity so well-known that even my high school chemistry professor despises her, debuted her designer denim line in New York.

The label, dVb, sells for around $250 a pair, and obviously caters to only those who can afford Beckham's expensive taste. The jeans have a large star stitched on the back, and she was well-received by her fans and the media.

One 18 year old fan says, "During Middle School I became the ugly duckling and I didn't have many friends and then I started following Victoria and her fashion tips and people starting telling me I was beautiful. I have her to thank for that."

Okay, so maybe Beckham won't be the next Vera Wang, but with Spice Girls fans like this, sales might do fine!

Matthew McConaughey: People's Hottest Bachelor

Matthew McConaughey, star of numerous screen productions, has been named People's "bachelor of the year". He was photographed shirtless on the beach, like he always is.

Another named bachelor David Spade, states, "Luckily we live in a world where women can overlook the physical and focus on things more important, like having a good personality ... or being on a TV show."

Of course, looking beyond the physical. It must be a coincidence that McConaughey has such nice abs.

Designer Fashion is Everywhere

In an age where the Olsen twins are fashion designers, Forever 21 creates knock-offs of European designers, and Target sells designs from the top fashion designers, fashion has become more of a business than it ever has been.

However, designers aren't too concerned about the mass production of fashion and the deterioration of the designer label. For celebrities clients, having an expensive one-of-a-kind dress is still the ideal. For the rest of us however, the Target collections are much more affordable.

Tobacco Ads in Fashion Mags

Open up the latest editions of Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, or Glamour, and amidst the clothing spreads and flashy advertisements from cosmetic companies, you might just find a colorful cigarette advertisement. While in the United States, cigarette advertising is banned from television, radio, and billboards, they're still allowed to be in print.

Recently, over 8000 readers protested against the cigarette ads in Vogue magazine, for issues such as influencing teenage girls to smoke. After all, what is a better proponent for smoking other than the top fashion magazine in the country?

Sarah Jessica Parkers 'Bitten'

The launch of 'Bitten', Sarah Jessica Parker's new line of clothing for Manhattan Mall's Steve & Barry's store has gotten people talking. The attractive part about the line is not only the influential style icon behind it but also the fact that everything is priced under 20$.

"I really loved the idea of making fashion accessible to every woman in this country despite her economic standing, despite her size, her shape and her ethnic background," the 42-year-old actress said. "The idea of the democratization of fashion was extremely appealing to me."

Steve & Barry's manages to keep prices low by no advertising ploys, manufacturing in the U.S ( Port Washington NY) and selling in bulk. They have over 200 stores in 33 states.

Shemar Moore latest DUI in Hollywood

It seems the hottest trend in Hollywood right now is being charged with DUIs and failing to learn from it.

On Friday, Criminal Minds actor Shemar Moore was arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence in Los Angeles, California. TMZ.com is reporting that $5,000 bail and a few days later, Moore was then seen drinking wine at a CTV party in Toronto, Ontario.

Socialite Paris Hilton began serving her DUI sentence yesterday, and both Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie are dealing with related issues as well.

I guess LA ladies aren't the only trendy ones in the 'hood.

Canadian Idol starts tonight

Tonight's premiere of Canadian Idol introduces a unique twist to idol history: contestants were allowed for the first time ever to audition with instruments.

Pianos, guitars and various other instruments accompanied many hopefuls, and for the first time in the show's history more males than females made it into the top 200.

"This is one of the best cross-country auditions we've ever had. Allowing competitors to audition with instruments has attracted a level of talent that we haven't seen before," said executive producer John Brunton in an article on the official website.

The show airs tonight at 8 p.m. ET.
