Balmain Fall 2007 Ready-to-Wear

While Paris Fashion Week is known for its household names such as Chanel and Christian Dior, designers such as Christophe Decarnin for Balmain prove that big-name designer labels aren't the only ones receiving press this week.

Once again, a lot of black and white is used in the pieces, with shimmers of silver here and there. I absolutely loved the mini-dresses for their simple cut, but still far from simplified with their detailed feathering and designs. The swooshing gowns however, were far from practical with their high and open slits. We're not all built with model-type bodies, but it's a good thing Decarnin had models who could work it.

I never knew about Balmain before today, but something about it really appeals to me. Perhaps it's the sense of movement in the clothing, perhaps it's the classic elegance made for femininity.
